Robert Nobles men's fabrics

Robert Noble was originally established in Galashiels, Scotland under the name of David Ballantyne in 1666 and today - almost 350 years later - it combines centuries-old techniques with modern technology to serve some of the most famous fashion houses in the world.

In 1884, two members of the Ballantyne family opened their own mills. Together the Ballantyne businesses employed around 700 people, including tradesmen such as engineers, plumbers and joiners.

In 1920s Ballantyne Sportswear was established and a dedicated knitwear factory built at Innerleithen.

The weaving business received the name Robert Noble in 1981.

The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay visited Robert Noble Mill in Summer 2013. The Duke, who was Patron of the Global Campaign for Wool, had a closer look at the produced Royal regimental tartan.

Nowadays, using yarn of the best quality, Robert Noble produces a collection of original woven cloths suited to current menswear trends each season - classical patterns like estate tweed, glen check, gun club and herringbone, but with contemporary new look.
